Project Description
lakeney Leigh were appointed under the Enfield Council consultancy framework to undertake fire safety improvements at West Lea School following identification during a fire risk assessment.
As part of this service Blakeney Leigh carried out all necessary inspections, undertook measured surveys, prepared all design & tender documentation and managed to completion.
Due to safety requirements, the works had to be carried out and phased in agreement with the school, Enfield fire safety coordinator and Building Control. Further to this the school was subject to a forthcoming expansion and as such the repairs had to be to the required standard but feasible due to the short lifespan.
The project included replacement of fire doors & shutters throughout the school, fire stopping, installation of new emergency lighting and installation of a new fire detection system. All works carried out to comply with Building Regulations.
Due to the nature of the scheme and priority of the items, the works were carried out over available school holidays and during ‘out of hour’s’ periods to achieve the required completions within an agreed timescale.
